Sudbury Select Board votes 3-2 against $450,000 CPA grant for Pine Lakes duplexes

SUDBURY — April 1, 2025 — Sudbury Select Board denies $450,000 CPA grant for Sudbury Housing Authority duplex project. The board split 3-2 against Article 46 at its April 1 warrant-finalization meeting, with Chair Jennifer Roberts, Vice-Chair Daniel Carty and member Charles Russo opposed and members Lisa Kouchakdjian and Janie Dretler in support. Roberts said public discontent had "crossed the line" and asked the Housing Authority to explore Frost Farm and Fairbank Circle as alternatives. Dretler said she was "kind of surprised at this board" and noted the town owns multiple developable parcels. The board also voted 4-1 to support Article 27, the opt-in specialized stretch energy code (Carty opposed); 5-0 to support Article 28 rewriting the accessory dwelling unit bylaw under the 2024 Affordable Homes Act; 5-0 to indefinitely postpone Article 24 raising the CIAC review threshold to $500,000 after CIAC and the Finance Committee objected; 5-0 to support creating Pension Stabilization and Accrued Leave funds totaling $200,000 despite a 1-8 FinCom vote; and 5-0 to reject petitioner Ralph Tyler's walkway funding and eminent-domain article. Annual Town Meeting opens May 5 at LSRHS.
