Select Board moves most warrant articles forward, holds vote on Pine Lakes duplex funding

SUDBURY — March 25, 2025 — Sudbury Select Board holds Pine Lakes vote, advances most of 56-article warrant. Fifteen residents spoke at the March 25 joint meeting with the Finance Committee, the great majority opposing Article 46, the Sudbury Housing Authority's $450,000 CPA request to help fund a $4.2 million teardown-and-replace of four single-family homes as four duplexes. SHA Executive Director Sheila Cusolito said the project is backed by a $1.2 million state EOHLC grant and a federally backed operating subsidy; CJ Davis of Oakwood Avenue countered that the four existing homes could be repaired for about $500,000 and that the Authority has paid Cambridge Housing Authority "nearly $300,000 of taxpayer money" to advise the project. The board postponed its Article 46 position vote to April 1. Members voted 5-0 to recommend the $126,040,721 FY26 operating budget and 4-1 to back $640,000 in Hosmer House envelope and HVAC work, with Daniel Carty opposed because the HVAC component "was developed on the fly." Finance Committee Chair Mike Lipinski presented an 8-1 budget endorsement and 5-4 opposition to the $500,000 Fairbank Community Center landscape master plan.
