SPS School Committee · Meeting of April 13, 2026

Sudbury School Committee unanimously awards after-school contract to Sudbury Extended Day. Meeting without Chair Karen and led by Vice Chair Jessica, the committee approved RFP 26-001 after Combined Facilities Director Don presented results from nine eligible proposals; SED, a 42-year parent-led nonprofit, received top-three rankings from all nine evaluators. Member Betsy Suess flagged capacity concerns, noting SED proposed 507 in-school seats versus 702 from the next-ranked bidder.

The committee also voted 3-1 to support a $200,000 vocational education stabilization article, with Nicole opposing over town budget pressures, and 4-0 to back $200,000 for ADA self-assessment work. Public comment ran nearly an hour on Superintendent Brad Crozier's announced departure, with Loring Principal Sarah Harvey and Nixon Principal Susan McGovern-Woods thanking him and residents calling the transition "framed as collaborative" but driven by "political shifts."
