SPS School Committee · Meeting of August 3, 2026
Sudbury School Committee hears calendar equity calls and approves IRS-linked mileage policy. Residents Vidya Parwani and Safa Khan urged the committee to reconsider adding Diwali and Eid to the district calendar, noting Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School has added the observances while ending its year on the same June 17, 2027 date as SPS. Assistant Business Administrator Buck Creel reported a $50,000 FY26 state earmark for special education secured by Rep. Carmine Gentile and estimated more than $200,000 for Sudbury from Governor Healey's pending $100 million supplemental for FY27.
Facilities Director Sandra Wong-Zajac said a microburst Monday morning flooded a Nixon corridor mid-roof-replacement but was stopped within an hour; the project remains on schedule for opening. The committee unanimously amended Policy DKC to tie employee mileage reimbursement to the "current federal IRS standard mileage rate," and Interim Superintendent Annette Doyle confirmed the proposed Jewish parent advisory council and anti-hate, anti-bias task force presentation are set for August 17.
