School Committee Hires Collins Center For Search
Sudbury School Committee picked Collins Center to lead its superintendent search despite a process objection.
SPS School Committee · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Sudbury School Committee picked Collins Center to lead its superintendent search despite a process objection. The committee voted 3-0 with two abstentions Monday to hire the Collins Center, after a four-person evaluation panel, including Acting Director of Business and HR Buck, staffer Carol, and committee members Jessica McCruddy and Ellen, split 2-2 with competing firm NESDEC before reaching consensus. Member Karen abstained, saying firm selection "is related to one of the committee's most important responsibilities" and should have been led by the full committee rather than a mixed staff-member panel.
McCruddy and member Betsy were named to the firm's screening committee, with McCruddy as point of contact. Separately, the committee adopted the district's strategic plan, approved $10,000 in Community Preservation Committee funding for Haines playground accessibility work, and voted to thank state Rep. Carmine Gentile for a $50,000 grant.
