Sudbury School Committee accepts METCO report, moves to accelerate fiscal 2028 budget timeline. METCO Director Leslie Hergert told the committee March 31 that state funding for the 70-student program has been flat for years even as transportation and fuel costs have risen, and that a new METCO Inc. transportation grant now covers busing Boston families to elementary evening events through December. Superintendent Brad Crozier reported 208 kindergarten registrations, well above the town census figure of 156, and thanked state Rep.
Carmine Gentile for placing $50,000 for special education services in the House fiscal 2026 supplemental budget out of a $104,000 request. Boston parents pressed for a formal parent liaison and more in-person community-building; one parent said she wanted "to get to know each other as a community first." The committee directed its budget subcommittee to explore a dual-priced transportation RFP including an electric-bus pilot and to begin fiscal 2028 priority discussions earlier this fall.
