Sudbury Select Board picks Scott Brody to negotiate Camp Sewataro management contract

SUDBURY — August 20, 2019 — Sudbury Select Board picks Scott Brody to negotiate Camp Sewataro management contract. The board authorized the town manager to open three-year contract talks with Brody's K&E Camp Corporation, the top-ranked respondent to a July 10 RFP that also drew bids from Metro West YMCA ($12,500 a month plus 20 percent of revenue) and Marcus Lewis Enterprises Inc. ($0 monthly base). An evaluation committee — Finance Director Dennis Keohane, Facilities Director Bill Barlow, Planning Director Adam Duchesneau, Acting Procurement and Recreation Director Frank Lavera, and Board of Health Director William Murphy — ranked Brody highest on public access and staff continuity. Brody's deal pays the town 20 percent of net revenue once annual revenue exceeds about $1.9 million, plus 50 scholarship slots and roughly 200 additional two-week camp spots. The board called Brody's bid "a difficult recommendation because all of the respondents were excellent" and noted Camp Sewataro had been sent a cease-and-desist letter over an Aug. 13 email to camp families.
