BSC Group gathers Sudbury input on Route 20 corridor's future

SUDBURY — March 20, 2025 — Sudbury residents push sewer, sidewalks and rail-trail connections in Route 20 corridor study input. The Planning and Community Development Department and consultant BSC Group held a March 20 public outreach session on the five-mile Boston Post Road corridor between the Marlborough and Wayland town lines. Planning Director Adam Burney and BSC planner Adam DeSantis ran a SWOT exercise that drew residents citing eight zoning districts, four local historic districts and no municipal sewer along the MassDOT-controlled right-of-way. Speakers urged Complete Streets funding, parking-lot solar canopies — one cited a six-and-a-half-year payback on the Lincoln-Sudbury array — and reimagining strip plazas as "individual little villages." Threats raised included the high-hazard Hager Pond Dam, rising commercial rents and rail-trail crossings of Route 20. BSC will return to the Planning Board in April, the Select Board in May, and deliver a final report in late June.
