Lincoln-Sudbury picks Lexington administrator Andrew Stevens as next superintendent-principal

SUDBURY — April 5, 2023 — Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School Committee votes 5-1 to hire Lexington's Andrew Stevens as superintendent-principal. Chair Heather Coop announced the appointment Wednesday night, effective July 1, 2023, contingent on contract negotiations; Stevens accepted by phone within minutes of the vote. Members Harold Engstrom, Kevin Matthews, Candace Miller and Mary Morzinski joined Coop in backing Stevens over Wayland High principal Allison Mizuguchi, who drew the lone dissenting vote from Kara Antedorin, and Wellesley High principal Jamie Chisholm. Engstrom praised Stevens's rigor, saying philosophy needs "the traction their brains need" to become action. Coop and Matthews will lead contract talks, guided by Glenn Koocher of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, who warned the committee against templates that "sacrifice the rights of the school committee." Stevens succeeds Bella Wong after her decade leading the district.
