LS School Committee approves chair, Kevin for finance director search committee
SUDBURY — April 11, 2019 — Lincoln-Sudbury committee gets regional-finance primer, seats search committee for finance director. The April 11 meeting was given over largely to a tutorial by the committee chair and Steve Hammond, recently retired assistant executive director of the Massachusetts Association of Regional Schools, on the statutory and alternate methods of apportioning regional school assessments under Chapter 70. Hammond warned that "if one town says no, you're back to the statutory" and that twice-rejected budgets force an all-district meeting under the statutory method, with DESE setting the budget by Dec. 1 if that fails. The chair walked through the FY20 build, with Sudbury's roughly 3 percent guidance setting a $32,886,440 ceiling and a combined required minimum contribution of approximately $14.7 million. After the presentation, the committee unanimously seated the chair and member Kevin on the search committee for a new director of finance and operations, with applications closing April 26 and finalist interviews running into the week of May 6.
