Sudbury subcommittee advances Siwataro use policy and public-swim deadline

SUDBURY — July 8, 2021 — Sudbury Siwataro subcommittee sets Sept. 30 deadline for public-swim plan and advances draft use policy. Select Board members Bill Schineller and Charles Russo reported July 8 that camp operator Scott Brody agreed to deliver a plan by Sept. 30 for offering public swimming at the town-owned camp in summer 2022, with a site walkthrough set for late July or early August. Brody told Schineller the larger gunite swimming pond is a more promising option than the camp's small instructional pools, though maintaining it "does involve a bit of alchemy." The subcommittee also line-edited a draft facility use policy covering reservations, insurance, parking and accessibility, leaving dollar figures out pending guidance from the full board. Russo said the board will need to decide whether non-camp event revenue flows into an enterprise fund or the general fund; finance director Dennis Keohane has indicated an enterprise fund would not require town meeting approval.
