Sudbury Select Board confirms three Commission on Disability appointments in divided votes

SUDBURY — August 30, 2022 — Sudbury Select Board splits 3-2 twice in filling Commission on Disability seats. The board appointed Gene Nam, Cameron LaHayes and Patricia Brown on the recommendation of Interim Town Manager Maryanne, with Vice Chair Janie Dretler and member Jen Roberts opposing both Nam and Brown over a social media post Nam made about a Town Meeting petitioner. Roberts called it an "ethical line" she could not cross; Chair Charles Russo, voting yes with Daniel Carty and Lisa Kouchakdjian, said he was "a believer in second chances." The board separately set a $215,000 advertised salary for the town manager search on the recommendation of Community Paradigm's Bernie Lynch, established a small wireless facilities subcommittee with consultant David Maxson under a $5,000 cap, and heard that Eversource construction on the underground transmission line is targeted for late September with completion now extending into 2024.
