Sudbury Select Board approves Mercedes-Benz dealership license, appoints sustainability member
SUDBURY — April 30, 2024 — Sudbury Select Board licenses new Mercedes dealership and punts on library EV charging article. The board voted 4-0, with Member Lisa Kouchakdjian recused, to grant a Class 1 motor vehicle license to Herb Chambers Mercedes-Benz of Sudbury at 141 Boston Post Road; attorney Josh Fox said the dealership could open in mid-June pending Eversource work. The board also unanimously appointed Mary Ferris of 35 Canterbury Drive to the Energy and Sustainability Committee through May 2027. On Article 28, which funds EV charging stations at the Goodnow Library, Finance Committee Chair Jennifer Roberts reported a 2-7 FinCom vote against, with members arguing the now-$5,000-to-$6,000 project should be drawn from the solar revolving fund rather than free cash. Facilities Director Sandra Duran said the pause "saved so much money," and Member Charles Russo said he would oppose the article if the library trustees do not withdraw it before town meeting opens May 6.
