Select Board votes 4-1 against backing library EV-charger article
SUDBURY — May 6, 2024 — Sudbury Select Board declines to back library EV-charger article hours before Town Meeting opens. The board voted 4-1 against supporting Article 28 after Town Manager Andy Sheehan reported that Eversource incentives and the Make Ready program would cover all but $5,168 of the $157,728 Goodnow Library project, with the balance available from the Solar Revolving Fund. Chair Janie Dretler called the warrant article "a colossal waste of our time"; Member Jennifer Roberts said it was not "good governance" to leave the article on the floor. The Finance Committee had voted 2-7 against recommending it. The board also defeated, 2-3, a motion by Member Charles Russo to indefinitely postpone the Article 16 firearms zoning bylaw, instead adopting late-revised language adding "excluding a restaurant" to preserve five viable overlay parcels after Gov. Maura Healey signed legislation permanently allowing restaurants to sell alcohol off-premises.
