Sudbury Select Board advances vocational-education stabilization fund toward 2026 town meeting

SUDBURY — September 30, 2025 — Sudbury Select Board endorses concept of vocational-education stabilization fund with $2.6M target. Town Manager Andrew Sheehan announced state-certified general fund free cash of $9.3 million and proposed a dedicated stabilization fund built toward 2 percent of the prior year's general fund budget — about $2.6 million — to signal seriousness to potential vocational district partners. Vice Chair Radha Gargeya estimated annual contributions of $500,000 to $630,000 over four to five years; member Charles Russo pressed for a "letter of commitment" from any partner in exchange, calling the fund "completely speculative" since admission depends on an outside body. The board separately voted 5-0 to adopt a consolidated investment policy presented by Finance Director Victor Garofalo, replacing four legacy policies, and 5-0 to issue an all-alcoholic-beverages restaurant license to Dasha Solutions LLC, doing business as Inspiration, at 435 Boston Post Road. Hillary Lederberg and Frank Mawhinney were appointed to the Cultural Council.
