Sudbury Select Board endorses $261,000 rail trail accessibility grant application

SUDBURY — September 9, 2025 — Sudbury Select Board fills registrar seats and endorses rail trail accessibility grant. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Hilda Ioanilli, a Republican, to a one-year Board of Registrars seat and chose retired Curtis Middle School teacher Barbara Ryan, a Democrat, over Republican Siobhan Hullinger for a three-year seat. Members also unanimously endorsed a roughly $261,000 Community Preservation Act application from the Rail Trail Advisory Committee for accessible parking on Dutton Road, a 250-foot boardwalk to Duck Pond, and design of an all-persons trail in Memorial Forest, presented by committee member John Drobinski. Finance Director Victor Garofalo reported FY25 revenues of $126.8 million, $3.99 million over budget, with investment income hitting $1.96 million against a $105,000 estimate and free cash projected above $9 million. The board split 3-2 on directing Town Manager Andy Sheehan to review the Camp Sewataro licensing agreement by Dec. 16, with members Daniel Carty and Charles Russo opposed; Russo warned against any review becoming "an end around" toward housing on the property.
