Sudbury Select Board adopts six priority goals for 2024

SUDBURY — September 14, 2023 — Sudbury Select Board ranks long-term budget plan and succession planning as top 2024 goals. At a Sept. 14 facilitated retreat with Mel Kleckner of the Collins Center, members scored a refined slate of goals and put Town Manager Andy's proposed long-term financial-management goal at the top with 18 points, well ahead of the field. Staffing needs and succession planning ranked second; both were designated as full-board work. Vocational education access (Kouchakdjian), MBTA Communities zoning (Russo), economic development (Roberts), and Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Phase 3A funding (Dretler) rounded out the six priorities. Member Daniel Carty, who pushed back against "tax our way to prosperity" framing and flagged eroding free cash reserves, was left without an individual assignment after a proposed seventh goal failed to clear the board's two-vote threshold. Refined deliverables are due back Sept. 26.
