Sudbury Permanent Building Committee interviews Mann, sets Sept. 3 meeting
SUDBURY — July 24, 2024 — Sudbury Permanent Building Committee interviews applicant John Mann as Fairbank close-out drags into disputes. The committee interviewed Mann, a custom-home site superintendent and one of three applicants for two open seats, before turning to a Fairbank Community Center update showing roughly $168,000 in budget remaining and three open Colantonio change-order disputes. BH+A Architect Thomas Scarlata presented a room-by-room acoustic-repair roadmap covering 17 second-floor areas and 10 recreation-department spaces; the town is holding retainage at a value "considerably less" than his estimate while contesting whether Colantonio built partitions to spec. Co-Chair Craig Blake warned Mann that public bidding is "the absolutely opposite" of high-end private work. The drainage project goes to bid within two weeks, targeting a Sept. 15-Oct. 15 construction window. Next meeting: Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.
