Sudbury PBC approves $212,862 Colantonio change order for Fairbank acoustic fix

SUDBURY — February 4, 2025 — Sudbury Permanent Building Committee approves $212,862 acoustic fix at Fairbank Community Center over one dissent. The committee voted 4-1 Tuesday to authorize Colantonio change order CP 219 Revision 2 to replace ceiling tile and add door hardware in the second-floor Sudbury Public Schools and Park and Recreation offices, where sound transmits through an unbroken attic plenum. Member James Kelly opposed, questioning roughly $60,000 in supervision and conditions fees and suggesting the work be re-bid; Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran and project manager Jennifer Pincus said Colantonio's subcontractors wanted the work and that owner's project manager Vertex and architect BH+A had both validated the price. Park and Recreation will be done the last two weeks of June; SPS in two July phases. Project budget retains a forecast $265,141. Separately, Duran reported a signed roughly $281,000 Titan Roofing Inc. contract for the Atkinson Pool roof going to the Select Board Feb. 26, and said 34 individuals — including Colantonio — pulled plans for the broader pool renovation, with bids due Wednesday at noon.
