Sudbury PBC caps Fairbank drainage negotiation at $150,000 in 4-0 vote
SUDBURY — March 12, 2024 — Sudbury PBC caps Fairbank drainage talks at $150,000 after rejecting $397,000 change order. The Permanent Building Committee voted 4-0 Tuesday to authorize Co-Chair Craig Blake to negotiate east-side drainage work with general contractor Colantonio up to a not-to-exceed $150,000, against a contractor proposal of $187,934 for the east side alone and $397,212 for the combined east-west package with a walkway. Co-Chair Elaine Jones called the pricing "outlandish," and member Jennifer Pincus said she would not recommend "doing $400,000 at all." Owner's project manager Vertex told the committee each day of further delay adds $3,000 to $3,500 in general-conditions cost, and that the engineer's peer review at Bowler had put the full design at roughly $130,000. The committee directed BH+A's Tom to package the west-side drainage for a separate Chapter 30 competitive rebid, with construction targeted after summer camp.
