Sudbury Council on Aging names secretary and transportation liaison at first meeting under new chair

SUDBURY — June 9, 2025 — Sudbury Council on Aging fills officer vacancies and locks in summer schedule at new chair's first meeting. Chair Paul Marotta, presiding for the first time on June 9, won unanimous votes to install Mary McLaughlin as secretary effective in July and to recommend incoming member Mary Brauer to the town's Transportation Committee, which Marotta called "our most important committee, number one." Director Nicole Boardman, six weeks into the job, said the long-delayed Community Center kitchen equipment is now being ordered in its "value-engineered" form and still needs Board of Health sign-off before any lunch program. Select Board Chair Lisa Kouchakdjian, joining by Zoom, asked the board to re-take the transportation vote to make it contingent on the Select Board confirming Brauer's COA appointment June 10. The board will meet July 14, skip August for handbook review and reconvene Sept. 8.
