Sudbury Select Board sets July 1 launch for Catch Connect microtransit pilot

SUDBURY — May 14, 2024 — Sudbury Select Board sets July 1 launch for Catch Connect microtransit and reorganizes after town meeting. Member Daniel E. Carty, who chairs the Transportation Committee, told the board the MWRTA-operated van will run weekdays from noon to 6 p.m. across Sudbury and out to Marlboro's Target Plaza, with the first month free and $2 rides thereafter; operating cost runs about $100 per hour, with a $17,000 ARPA community match already in place. Carty also announced a separate $127,000 community transit grant for a planned Boston hospital shuttle. The board unanimously appointed Jim Weigel of 665 Boston Post Road to the Sudbury 250 Committee, extended the Transportation Committee and its members' terms one year, and released a town counsel opinion outlining the town-meeting-plus-seven-lot-owner process required to extinguish the Tall Pines easements. Outgoing Chair Janie W. Dretler called the floor handling of an Article 16 amendment "a bit of an embarrassing moment for this Select Board." A launch event for Catch Connect is set for June 6 at the Senior Center.
