Select Board picks Sheehan as next Sudbury town manager in 4-1 vote

SUDBURY — November 15, 2022 — Sudbury Select Board votes 4-1 to offer the town manager job to Andrew Sheehan. The conditional offer, contingent on a negotiated employment agreement, followed Saturday interviews with three finalists run by Bernie Lynch of Community Paradigm Associates. Members Janie W. Dretler, Lisa V. Kouchakdjian, Jen Roberts and Chair Charles G. Russo backed Sheehan, citing his municipal depth and community planning record; Kouchakdjian called him "very, very qualified, competent, and confident." Daniel E. Carty cast the lone no vote, preferring finalist Mike McCall for his legal and labor-negotiation background: "I don't think I'd be genuine if I voted yes." Russo and Dretler were named to a contract subcommittee. Separately, the board voted 4-1 to buy a gas Park and Recreation activity bus with ARPA funds after the hybrid-conversion vendor paused that work, and previewed a Nov. 29 tax classification hearing where Director of Assessing Cynthia Gerry said fiscal 2023 valuations will run "north of 20 percent" above last year.
