Historical Commission clears 328 Hudson and 63 Beachwood for demolition

SUDBURY — November 15, 2022 — Sudbury Historical Commission clears two houses for demolition and formalizes Hosmer House coordinator role. The commission voted 5-0-2 that 328 Hudson Road is not historically significant and 6-0-1 on 63 Beachwood Avenue, citing replacement windows, prior additions and altered facades. Chair Christopher Hagger said the Hudson Road house had been "modified and altered to quite a large extent over time." On a 7-0 vote, members delegated authority to coordinator Diana Sieber for programming, routine and emergency maintenance, temporary documented relocation of Hosmer collections, and up to $400 in spending without prior approval — up from $100. The commission also unanimously requested an $8,500 fiscal 2024 budget, roughly 3 percent above the current $8,271, and reached consensus to seek wood-shake shingles for the long-delayed Hosmer roof replacement, originally funded at $50,000 by town meeting in 2019.
