Sudbury capital committee endorses Iovanella, walks through project list
SUDBURY -- November 16, 2022, Sudbury's Capital Improvement Advisory Committee unanimously recommended Peter Iovanella to the Select Board for appointment. Iovanella, an owner's-representative construction manager with experience on a 23-story Brooklyn condo and a Kenmore Square project, told Chair Matthew Dallas and members Susan Asbedian-Ciaffi and Thomas Travers that budgeting and cost estimating are his strongest skills. Facilities staff then reported the Haskell Field Smile playground rebuild, originally pegged near $600,000, is now estimated at nearly $1 million; a $455,000 SPS HVAC project is being rebid to weigh higher-efficiency options; and groundbreaking on the combined fire station is set for December. Members sharply questioned why Atkinson Pool ventilation work, described as on "its last legs", was excluded from the Fairbank Community Center build, calling the omission "bad value engineering."
