Select Board hears DCR's $5 million plan to pave Mass Central Rail Trail

SUDBURY — December 13, 2022 — Sudbury Select Board hears DCR's $5 million plan to pave Mass Central Rail Trail through town. DCR trail planner Paul Jahnige told the board Dec. 13 that paving of the seven-and-a-half-mile Sudbury-to-Hudson Phase 2 segment is programmed for fiscal 2024–2025 at $4.5 million to $5 million, with construction starting mid-2024 after Eversource finishes the sub-base. All local permits are in hand, Jahnige said, and the trail will "fully meet ADA standards." Chair Charles Russo conceded the town is "late to the party" on planning access points to the Route 20 commercial district. The board also unanimously appointed Sarah Greenbaswani and Jessica Cerullo Merrill to the Sudbury Housing Trust, Peter Ivanella to the Capital Improvement Advisory Committee and Jordan Walks to the Historic Districts Commission, and publicized a new aggregation electricity rate of 10.712 cents per kilowatt-hour versus Eversource's 25.649-cent January default.
