Select Board hands town manager screening to outside firm

SUDBURY — September 13, 2022 — Sudbury Select Board outsources town manager screening to its search consultant. The board voted 5-0 Tuesday to let Community Paradigm Associates run an internal professional panel — rather than a citizens' screening committee — to narrow applicants to three or four finalists by late October, with an Oct. 7 application deadline. Community Paradigm President Bernie Lynch said the move preserves applicant confidentiality: "If we receive 20 resumes, you will not see 20 resumes." Member Lisa Kouchakdjian said she was "adamantly opposed" to repeating the prior citizen-committee model. The board also appointed retired Air Force civilian Paul J. Morata to the Council on Aging, heard that the Go Sudbury ride program logged 1,159 Uber trips at $19 average and 370 taxi trips at $76 average from April through August, and voted to send membership-inquiry letters to four vocational districts including Minuteman and Nashoba Valley Technical.
