Select Board defers Camp Sewataro audit, advances 250th anniversary committee draft

SUDBURY — November 28, 2023 — Sudbury defers Camp Sewataro audit 4-1, signals fuller audit next year. The Select Board on Nov. 28 reviewed financials showing the town received $160,000 in base payments plus a $92,956 revenue share — about $253,000 total — against roughly $700,000 in annual debt service on the property. Chair Janie Dretler's motion to audit this year's books failed 1-4, with members Lisa Kouchakdjian, Jennifer Roberts, Daniel Carty and Charles Russo opting instead to invite operator Scott Brody to a future meeting and direct an audit at the end of the operator's next fiscal year. Kouchakdjian floated a "triple-net lease" structure for the next contract; Russo said revenue maximization "was never the goal." The board also appointed Brenda Erickson of 55 Hudson Road, a 13-year Callahan Senior Center veteran, to the Council on Aging through May 31, 2025, and spent roughly 45 minutes editing a draft mission statement for a new committee planning Sudbury's 250th anniversary of the April 19, 1775 march to the Old North Bridge.
