Permanent Building Committee approves $186,278 Vertex extension through Fairbank completion

SUDBURY — January 17, 2024 — Sudbury PBC extends Vertex through Fairbank Community Center completion in $186,278 vote. The Permanent Building Committee voted 4-0 Jan. 17 to recommend the amendment, which keeps Vertex project executive Chris, a site manager and a new assistant project manager on the job through substantial completion in May; Co-Chair Elaine L. Jones characterized it as "an extension of the existing level of service" rather than new scope. Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran told the committee she will seek roughly $85,000 more at town meeting for the fire station three roof beyond the original $80,000 warrant article, citing stretch-code costs and an EPDM membrane in "extremely poor condition" that risks "a catastrophic leak" under snow load. The committee also approved a $2,170.10 Red Thread furniture change order and agreed by consensus to remove non-functioning Command Access wave-activated door openers from all Community Center restrooms. Total approved change orders on Fairbank stand at roughly $1.4 million, with $828,805 in remaining contingency before the Vertex amendment.
