PBC approves $13,429 change order to remove EFIS at Fairbank pool

SUDBURY — June 15, 2023 — Sudbury Permanent Building Committee approves $13,429 EFIS removal at Fairbank pool and is warned on contingency. The committee unanimously approved Change Order Proposal No. 46 at a not-to-exceed $13,429.45 to strip exterior insulation from the existing pool building's north and west walls after new framing collided with the old wall, threatening ADA clearances in the new toilet rooms. Vertex project manager Chris Eberly cautioned that Fairbank is roughly 55 percent built but, with pending change items factored in, has committed more than 77 percent of contingency: "We don't want to put the town in the position of not having the money necessary to deal with an unforeseen condition." At the North Fire Station, Vertex's Neil Joyce reported $2,889,256 spent against a $5.8 million budget — 49.6 percent complete — with only one change order to date, valued at $374. The committee also welcomed former building commissioner James Kelly as a returning member candidate, set to go before the Select Board on June 27.
