Planning Board sends Boston Post Road restaurant design back for major rework
SUDBURY — June 14, 2023 — Sudbury Planning Board orders architectural rework of 694 Boston Post Road restaurant. The three-member quorum continued the Red Bear LLC site plan review and stormwater permit hearing to July 12 after rejecting the "Western Mexican" vernacular proposed for the former Acapulco's site. "We're not going to bring the Alamo into Sudbury," member Justin Finnegan told architect Robert Livermore, urging a gabled roof along Boston Post Road and removal of a vertical signage element. Chair Stephen Garvin flagged that the project, sited in Water Resource Protection Overlay Zone 3, likely requires a Planning Board special permit under bylaw sections 4252 and 4253 separate from the April 3 ZBA permit. Abutters William and Joy Aldrich of 700 Boston Post Road asked for an eight-foot privacy fence extended the full length of the property's west side. The board also continued a 272 Willis Road scenic-road stone wall hearing to July 12 and approved a minor site plan for ADA parking at 60 Union Ave.
