Lincoln-Sudbury committee hires MASC to run superintendent search

SUDBURY — December 15, 2022 — Lincoln-Sudbury hires MASC to lead its superintendent search after a split subcommittee vote. The Regional School Committee unanimously ratified the subcommittee's 2-1 recommendation Thursday, choosing the Massachusetts Association of School Committees over NESDEC and the Collins Center at UMass Boston. Subcommittee Chair Kevin Matthews and member Candace Miller cited MASC's roughly $10,500 bid — versus about $17,500 for the Collins Center and near $20,000 for NESDEC — along with the firm's prior work for the district. Member Harold dissented, arguing the other two firms showed "a greater sense of urgency" and had committed to a 120-day search window. Glenn Kuchar will run the search, with no payment owed until a superintendent is placed. Matthews said preparatory focus groups, a survey and quiet candidate outreach can begin immediately.
