L-S search subcommittee approves 11-member screening panel for superintendent hunt

SUDBURY — January 11, 2023 — Lincoln-Sudbury search subcommittee seats 11-member screening panel over Miller's "atypical" objection. Chair Kevin Matthews announced faculty additions Brendan Wimberley and Susan Shields, finalizing a committee that also includes School Committee members Tara Mitchell, Sylvia Nersessian, Matthews, Candace Miller and Harold Engstrom, administrators Martha Wall and Raymond Kelton, and community representatives Carol Casper and Maura Cardi. Miller voted no, citing the lack of "broader community representation"; Matthews countered that "things vary by situation." Select Board member Janie Dretler used public comment to correct the record on the town's 2019 town manager search, saying screening picks were delegated to the consultant on legal advice. Miller flagged anonymous student safety concerns surfacing in the search survey that she said may warrant an executive session. Applications close Feb. 3.
