Council on Aging directs committee to draft bylaws for associate members

SUDBURY — September 8, 2025 — Sudbury Council on Aging moves to add non-voting associate members and launches Uber voucher program. Chair Paul Marotta directed the membership committee — Joel Bauman, Don Sherman and Carmine Gentile — to draft bylaws language adding two or three associate seats to the nine-member board, with any change requiring Select Board approval. Director Nickole Boardman reported the Senior Center kitchen's steam table, convection oven, warming oven and dishwasher were arriving the next day, with half of current staff now ServSafe certified. Member Mary Brauer detailed the Sept. 1 Uber voucher launch: 30 vouchers monthly at $30 each for income-qualified seniors, with no carryover, and a Transportation Fair set for mid-October. Member Joel Bauman said the Friends of the Sudbury Senior Center aim to net roughly $35,000 from a spring concert at Lincoln-Sudbury at $50 a ticket. Member Don Sherman cited that "15 percent" of Sudbury firehouse ambulance runs are for falls. The next meeting is Oct. 6.
