Council on Aging approves strategic plan, sets needs-assessment as next priority

SUDBURY — October 6, 2025 — Sudbury Council on Aging approves strategic plan, calls for fresh senior needs data. The board voted unanimously Oct. 6 to adopt the plan drafted by Vice-Chair Patricia Tabloski, treating it as a "living document," and lined up Goodnow Library Director Amy Stimac, the town social worker and the Sudbury Food Pantry as guests at its next three meetings. Member Dr. Joel Bauman, a geriatrician, pressed for a new assessment to replace 2021 data, arguing that "spending the time to figure out how to do it right" on nutrition and frailty measures would best serve residents. Director Nickole Boardman reported 2,518 senior van rides from January through September serving 71 individuals, average September walk-in usage of 93 people daily, and a new Uber voucher program with 27 sign-ups, nine users and 16 rides in its first days against a budget of 30 vouchers per month at $30 each.
