Conservation Commission advances Harvey's Farm invasive plan, OKs Dorothy Road tree work

SUDBURY — December 2, 2024 — Sudbury Conservation Commission advances Harvey's Farm composting project amid abutter pushback on runoff and glyphosate. Vito Colonna of Conistern Engineering and Dr. John Rockwood of Ecotech walked Chair David Henkels and the commission through revised construction sequencing and a three-year invasive species protocol calling for hand-pulling of herbaceous invasives and a cut-and-blot treatment of woody invasives using a 25 percent aquatic glyphosate solution — "probably a cup of herbicide for this whole site for the first round," Rockwood said. Abutter Connie Stewart of 115 Old Sudbury Road said drainage provisions still do not adequately protect her property; abutter Ronald Eisenstein of 107 Old Sudbury Road urged organic alternatives. The hearing on DEP file 301-1429 was continued unanimously to Dec. 16. The commission also unanimously issued an order of conditions for Liam Hudson's tree removal and stem-injection knotweed treatment at 29 Dorothy Road, a negative determination for a 15 Elmwood Avenue swing set conditioned on June 1, 2025 completion of prior septic mitigation, and a certificate of compliance for 102 Barton Drive.
