Conservation Commission · Meeting of August 24, 2026
Sudbury's Conservation Commission voted to continue its annual deer hunting program and expand it into the Landenbrook Marsh area and an adjoining 38-acre Sudbury Valley Trustees parcel. Land Manager Joe Miller told the commission 12 deer were taken from conservation land last season and said the program could grow to roughly 25 hunters if the Raymond Reservation is added in a future season. Chair David Henkels and members Jeremy Cook, Kathleen Rogers, Harry Hoffman and Victor Sulkowski voted in favor; member Mark Sevier abstained.
Sawmill Lane resident Margie Peppercorn objected, saying "we have done no actual deer counts in town each year to see whether or not it's necessary" and noting only six deer were killed in 2024. The commission separately continued a 42,500-square-foot deed restriction tied to a Trevor Way-area subdivision, and two Boston Post Road hearings, to September meetings.
