ConCom extends Sudbury Pines wastewater permit, approves Fairbank Road driveway change

SUDBURY — May 22, 2023 — Sudbury Conservation Commission absorbs new state BioMap and extends Sudbury Pines permit one year. MassWildlife outreach specialists Sarah Wasserman and Alec Kaizen briefed the commission on the November release of BioMap, telling members that about 30 percent of Sudbury is identified as Core Habitat, 18.1 percent as Critical Natural Landscape, and 38.7 percent once new local-scale layers are added — out of 2.4 million acres statewide, roughly 44 percent of which is permanently protected. Wasserman called the local components a way "to add to each town's understanding of their important natural resources." The commission unanimously extended SWAB 19-01-28 for Sudbury Pines Extended Care Facility's wastewater treatment plant by one year, with Conservation Coordinator Lori reporting the site in compliance, and approved a minor modification widening the curves of a 10-foot driveway at 97 Fairbank Road within Run Brook's riparian zone. Four wetlands cases — 58 Massasoit Avenue, 4 DeMarco Road, 74 and 80 Maynard Road, and 5 Hunt Road — were continued without discussion to June 5 or June 26.
