Trustees seat Fontes as chair and lock in director-search process

SUDBURY — May 14, 2025 — Goodnow Library Trustees elect new officers and shape a director search now likely to slip past June. Newly elected Chair Katina Fontes and Vice Chair Jill K. Caseria took the gavel Tuesday before Town Manager Andy Sheehan walked the board through a four-stage process to fill the director vacancy left by Esme Green: HR triage of the 13 applications received, screening-committee review, executive-session semi-finalist interviews, and a final round of three or four candidates conducted by Sheehan and the chair. "It's better to have a little bit heavier finalist pool," Sheehan said, citing recent recruitments in which finalists withdrew. Trustees Megan Kelley and Ingrid J. Mayyasi — both librarians — joined Fontes on the screening committee; the Massachusetts Library System director will advise without voting. Longtime circulation employee Sue Ellen Stein used public comment to press for "unedited, unabridged, full access" to staff survey results for everyone on the screening committee.
