Goodnow trustees defer Littlewitz memorial plaque vote to September

SUDBURY — June 3, 2025 — Goodnow trustees defer Littlewitz memorial plaque to September and push director hire into late summer. Trustee Ingrid Mayyasi, liaison to the Goodnow Library Foundation endowment board, asked the trustees to honor late donor Susan Littlewitz, who funded the Now Lab, gave to the endowment campaign and designed and silkscreened the signage for the library's Hudson River School paintings; no member opposed, and Chair Katina Fontes asked Mayyasi to return with location, wording and cost. Trustee Megan Kelley reported the director search pool stands at 12 after one of 13 applicants withdrew, with a screening committee that includes Fontes, two trustees and Brad Croeser of the Massachusetts Library System; Town Manager Andrew Sheehan makes the final call. Kelley said summer vacations make the original mid-June finalist target unrealistic: "Fingers crossed, we have this figured out by the end of the summer." Assistant Director Karen Tobin reported EV chargers are being trenched, two downstairs bottle fillers are in service, and children's staffer Cat Little will stay part-time through July 17 to run summer reading.
