Goodnow Trustees set April 21 start for children's room renovation
SUDBURY -- April 7, 2026, Goodnow Library children's room to close April 21 for monthlong renovation. The Library Director told the Board of Trustees at its April 7 meeting that the room has been emptied and construction is on track to begin Tuesday, April 21 and finish by the end of May. The director also reported that a chronic problem with the library's smart-locker hold service has been fixed after a Massachusetts Library System escalation traced it to a coding error in the Minuteman warehouse software, and that 77 percent of the operating budget has been spent. March drew 105,116 community reading minutes in the Minute Madness Challenge, enough for the Elite Eight before a loss to Wilmington, and an 80-plus-child leprechaun-trap event. Jennifer Jones reported the Goodnow Library Foundation raised just over $1,300 on Library Giving Day from individual gifts, with the foundation's gala returning Oct. 16.
