Sudbury Select Board ratifies three-year firefighters contract, awards Atkinson roof bid

SUDBURY — February 25, 2025 — Sudbury Select Board ratifies firefighters contract and commits to Atkinson Pool roof replacement. The board on Tuesday ratified a three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Sudbury Permanent Firefighters Association Local 2023 running through June 30, 2027 — the fifth of seven town unions to settle — and unanimously approved a $281,800 contract with Titan Roofing Inc. for the leaking Atkinson Pool roof. Town Manager Andy Sheehan said keeping "a sound cover" on the structure made sense even amid open questions raised the prior night about whether Sudbury should remain "in the pool business." Members also accepted a $100,000 earmark from state Rep. Carmine Gentile for Fairbank multi-sport court fencing, authorized a Solect Energy PPA expected to cover 77 percent of the Fairbank Community Center load, and voted 5-0 to reopen the Sudbury Public Schools Committee vacancy appointment process, with Member Charles Russo citing tie-vote risk on the four-member committee.
