Sudbury Select Board approves four Herb Chambers dealership license transfers to Asbury

SUDBURY — June 10, 2025 — Sudbury Select Board approves Herb Chambers-to-Asbury dealership license transfers 5-0. The board unanimously transferred Class 1 licenses for BMW of Sudbury, Jaguar and Land Rover of Sudbury, and Mercedes-Benz of Sudbury from Herb Chambers to Asbury Automotive Group, a publicly traded chain operating 152 dealerships across 14 states. Attorney Joshua Fox told the board outstanding items — a final wiring inspection at Mercedes, wetland-encroaching irrigation at 105 Boston Post Road, and cut native plantings discovered the day before — are being resolved, with Asbury pledging "zero tolerance" on parking violations. Separately, Finance Director Victor Garofalo disclosed the new Fairbank Community Center is running about $100,000 over its utility budget, with electric costs jumping from $23,000 in FY24 to a projected $127,000 in FY25. Member Daniel Carty, the sole vote against adopting the Housing Production Plan targeting 174 additional affordable units, said the plan lacks a time-bound goal.
