Sudbury Select Board approves $275,500 ARPA package for Atkinson Pool emergency repairs

SUDBURY — February 28, 2023 — Sudbury reshuffles ARPA dollars to cover $275,500 emergency Atkinson Pool repair. The Select Board voted 5-0 Tuesday to transfer $233,500 in unused ARPA funds from the Fire Station No. 2 project to the pool, then added roughly $42,000 from the board's unallocated ARPA balance to reach the full repair cost. Permanent Building Committee Chair Craig Blake said the fire station, about 12 percent complete, has had only one change order — a $2,300 credit. A separate 3-2 vote kept $268,568.82 in unspent Fairbank waterline ARPA money with the Fairbank Community Center as contingency, with Chair Charles Russo and member Daniel Carty dissenting. Russo argued "a dollar that's unallocated is a dollar that counts three times." Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran said the full pool rehabilitation, including grouting, totals $564,000.
