Sudbury School Committee approves 15-year capital plan and afterschool care RFP. The committee voted 5-0 Tuesday to adopt a 15-year facilities capital plan and to issue a request for proposals for an afterschool care lease starting in fiscal 2028, when the current provider SED's contract options expire. Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran presented roughly $1.6 million in annual town meeting warrant articles, including $195,000 in small capital, a $450,000 school safety article for interior vestibules and double buzz-in access at all five schools, $660,500 for phase one fire alarm and emergency lighting replacement at Haynes and Nixon, and $110,000 for building management system repairs.
Superintendent Brad previewed tier-one budget priorities including $120,000 in professional development stipends and up to $80,000 for nursing support. Resident Laura Willard urged an ed-tech audit, saying "more than 400 studies have examined digital learning and exactly zero have shown an academic benefit."
