Sudbury PBC recommends $4.5M fire station contract to Construction Dynamics

SUDBURY — August 3, 2022 — Sudbury committee recommends $4.5 million fire station contract, with ARPA closing an $811,500 gap. The Permanent Building Committee voted unanimously Wednesday to recommend Clinton-based Construction Dynamics, the low bidder at $4.427 million on the base bid, and accepted all three additive alternates covering kitchen appliances, bedroom wardrobe lockers and apparatus-bay painting. Owner's project manager Neil reported eight bids between $4.427 million and $5.982 million and called the contractor's filings clean, citing a $7.14 million single-project limit and "exceptional" DCAM rating of 95. The $6.06 million total project budget exceeds the $5.25 million appropriation, but Select Board liaison Janie Dreller and member Jennifer Roberts confirmed $1 million in ARPA funds is reserved to cover the gap, with any remainder returning to the town. Co-Chairs Craig E. Blake and Elaine L. Jones also flagged an unresolved easement across National Development property needed to guarantee side-entrance access.
