Sudbury Historical Commission advances Hosmer House reopening, adds new member

SUDBURY — April 15, 2025 — Sudbury Historical Commission backs Hosmer House Town Meeting articles and opposes CPA rollback. Members voted 5-0 April 15 to oppose Article 54, a citizens' petition cutting the Community Preservation Act surcharge from 3 percent to 1.5 percent, and Chair Christopher Hagger said the commission "supports the continuation of the current 3 percent tax surcharge." Three Hosmer House CPA articles — a roof, building envelope and collections study — are on the Town Meeting consent calendar, with January's consultants' report allocating $27,000 for HVAC in phase one and $140,000 in phase two. The commission also voted 5-0 to recommend Kimberly Burns, of 10 Dudley Road, as a full member, and to advance Christopher Durall from alternate to full member. The Hosmer House, closed for months over mold, reopens to the public April 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. after biocide cleaning. The general fund stands at $7,047; the Hosmer House fund at $19,201.
