Commission pauses Landon Road farmhouse demolition
The Sudbury Historical Commission voted to delay demolition of a historic farmhouse.
Historical Commission · Meeting of August 18, 2026
SUDBURY — The Sudbury Historical Commission voted to delay demolition of a historic farmhouse. The board voted 6-0 to impose a six-month demolition delay on the 19th-century farmhouse at 87 Landon Road, finding tearing it down would be "detrimental to the historical and architectural heritage" of the town, while voting 6-0 the same night to clear a heavily altered house at 10 East Street for demolition. Member William Andreas said the Landon Road house is likely "not salvageable" but argued any replacement should echo its farmhouse aesthetic.
The commission also voted 5-0 to seek $37,000 in Community Preservation Committee funding for cemetery gravestone restoration and 5-0 to add a $20,000 contingency to a Hosmer House archival-project funding request.
