Sudbury CPC takes testimony on three FY26 grants; January votes set

SUDBURY — December 18, 2024 — Sudbury Community Preservation Committee hears three FY26 grants as Pine Lakes residents oppose Housing Authority duplex plan. The Dec. 18 hearing reviewed a $90,000 add-on for Hop Brook pond cleanup, $386,000 for a cedar-shingle Hosmer House roof, and a contested $450,000 grant toward a $4.2 million Sudbury Housing Authority project to raze four single-family homes and build duplexes. Seven Pine Lakes residents opposed the SHA request; Alicia Carrillo of 60 Basswood Ave. called the duplexes "completely inappropriate" on lots "as small as 0.16 acres," and Matt Allen of 16 Oakwood Ave. urged use of SHA-owned parcels with recently expired deed restrictions. Member Dan Carty pressed SHA representative Sheila Cosolito on build-versus-buy economics and was told the $1.2 million state award includes operating vouchers unavailable for acquisitions. At adjournment, Coordinator Ryan Poteat confirmed removing a public participant from Zoom; an Open Meeting Law complaint followed Jan. 2.
