CPC tells Goodnow Library to file new application for archival storage room
SUDBURY -- March 4, 2026, Sudbury CPC tells Goodnow Library a new attic storage room needs a fresh Town Meeting application. In status interviews on six legacy projects, Library Director Amy Stimmick said the 2020 historic-room grant is roughly 75 percent complete, with a $49,980 millwork contract signed and about $59,000 likely to remain. But the committee said the library's plan to redirect that balance to a former director's office for archival storage falls outside the warrant article. "The warrant article is pretty specific about what this money is for and what you're supposed to do with it," Member Dan Carty said. Chair Sherrill Cline directed the library to finish the in-scope work, report complete, and reapply. Planning Director Adam Burney reported 75 percent design on Bruce Freeman Phase 3 was submitted to MassDOT in February against an $8.5 million construction estimate programmed for state fiscal 2029-2030, and Carty flagged that programmed costs of $334,000 to $420,000 exceed the $326,521 remaining in the Phase 2 non-participating account.
